Domaine Eric Louis is gesitueerd in het zuid-oosten van Sancerre en werd opgericht door voorouder Pauline in 1860, die het domein “Les Celliers de la Pauline” doopte. Vandaag de dag bestrijkt het domein 35 hectare, bestaande uit een mozaiek van 60 percelen, verdeeld over de appellaties Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Menetou-Salon, Quincy, Reuilly en Châteaumeillant. Reeds sinds lange tijd werkt vierde generatie wijnmaker Eric Louis al zo natuurlijk mogelijk in zijn wijngaarden, waarbij hij sinds 2020 volledig biologisch werkt, met als doel het behouden van de biodiversiteit en het markeren van elk individueel terroir. Vanaf de oogst van 2023 zal de certificering officieel rond zijn. Zijn stijl is spatzuiver, met gepronceerde fruitexpressie en onderliggende mineraliteit, waarbij de optimale rijpheid van de druiven bijdraagt aan de aromatische volwassenheid en balans van de wijnen. Sulfiet gebruik wordt beperkt tot een minimum, dankzij precieze vinificatie en onberispelijke hygiëne in de kelder.
Domaine Eric Louis is situated in the South-East of Sancerre and was founded in 1860 by ancestor Pauline, who named the estate “Les Celliers de la Pauline.” The estate owns 35 hectares nowadays, consisting of a mosaic of 60 plots, divided over the appellations Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Menetou-Salon, Quincy, Reuilly and Châteaumeillant. Fourth generation winemaker Eric Louis has already worked for a long time as natural as possible in his vineyards, since 2020 fully organic with the goal to preserve biodiversity and to highlight each individual terroir.From harvest 2023 the organic certification will be official. His style is crystal clear, with pronounced fruitexpression and underlying minerality, whereby optimum ripeness of the grapes contribute to aromatic maturity and balance in the wines. Use of sulfites is limited to the bare minimum, thanks to precise vinification and impeccable hygiene in the cellar.
